Kit Kirby combines technology, consumer products and “low” art craft materials to play with the absurd and often hypocritical reasons behind inequality, stereotypes and social divisions. Focusing on gender, race, and class, she inflates these divisions to comical extremes and grounds their discussion in humor. She is particularly interested in how behavioral psychology, product advertising, video games and digital spaces contribute to and codify inequality and how maker spaces and independent creators can bridge these divisions.
