Camella Da Eun Kim was born in South Korea and has lived in Canada for a significant amount of time. Her double major in Visual Arts & Media, Information & Technoculture led her to the world of Media Arts. Kim’s new work questions why communication is so important. She often rephrases language barriers, repositioning her reader as the person struggling to understand or be understood. Kim’s works incorporate narrative, but weave layers of meaning which question how identity is formed through language. A strategy often used is creating deliberate misunderstandings and miscommunication through intentional mistranslation, manipulation, and distortion.
