Dis-
(prefix)
1. indicating reversal,
2. indicating negation, lack, or deprivation
3. indicating removal or release.
Undergraduate students from UCLA's DMA department answered a call for artwork that explores topics and narratives related to the prefix "dis-". This call was met with responses that reflect disembodiment, disintegration, disregard, distance, dysmorphia, dystopia, disconnection, among others. The multidisciplinary body of work featured in the show traverses this theme through sculpture, photography, VR, video, electronics, interactive web applications, books and many others.
