DESMA 7: Critical Game Culture
Introduction to critical issues in the culture and history of games in relation to contemporary social issues such as economics and class, environment, violence, gender identity, and cross-cultural representation.
DESMA 8: Media Histories
Overview of optical media and aesthetic movements covering the past two centuries; How such movements can inform generative work and how understanding these media becomes essential in the emerging era of digital humanities.
DESMA 10: Design Culture
Understanding the design process, with emphasis on the development of visual language; study of historic, scientific, technological, economic, and cultural factors influencing design in the physical environment.
DESMA 21: Drawing and Color
Exploration of the relationship between concept and image creation while fostering development of sound drawing, design and observation skills.
DESMA 24: Motion
Exploration of aesthetics and fundamentals of motion and its application to design and media arts through an introduction of the basic concepts and tools for the design of moving images.
DESMA 131: 3D Modeling and Motion
Introduction to theories of three-dimensional form, spatial design, and lighting, using three-dimensional visualization and video tools.
DESMA 141: UI/UX Web Design
Examination of leading concepts of people-centered interactive design. Students are encouraged to holistically approach the web and its constituent code as a living kit of parts to be harnessed in novel and innovative ways
