Sonder embodies my profound fascination with those around me—strangers, whose existences are filled with stories, stories I will never know. Friends, even, whose identities are shaped by a culmination of experiences, experiences I will never fully understand.
Through p5.js, I create a generative array of windows—an ecosystem of the diverse lives I have observed and captured throughout the years. These windows are computationally dimmed and illuminated using a randomized cellular automata model, reflecting the interconnected and dynamic nature of human existence. Much like the framework, each window interacts with its neighbors, its state and that of its surroundings shaping a continuous exchange of influences.
Amidst the turbulence of current global issues, every illuminated window serves as a reminder of the resilience and complexity of the collective human experience, of the stories that will inadvertently shape others’.
