I found myself dreaming of another Land—the land of Deutschland—land being the word for country in German. A country rich in history, and also very different from my home country, the United States. Our minds are entities that can develop into a place—full of interests, emotions, thoughts, and the experiences of our lives. I imagined my mind as a city inspired by German architecture and history, as it’s the biggest interest I have. I filled this model with specially designed buildings and landmarks that shaped my life, as if it were a real place. Just like actual cities, this mental map of me has a history of its own.
