James Bassler joined the art faculty at UCLA in 1975 and taught textile art there until his retirement in 2000. He was named to the American Craft Council College of Fellows in 1998. He continues to create work in his studio and is represented by galleries in New York City and Santa Fe, New Mexico. His work was exhibited in SOFA New York in spring 2003.
