Breanna Browning

Breanna Browning is an artist, creative director, and researcher with studios in Los Angeles, California and her native rural Appalachia.

Breanna received her Bachelor of Architecture and Master’s of Landscape Architecture from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She also studied at Aalto University, Helsinki and holds a postgraduate degree from the Southern California Institute of Architecture in Fiction and Entertainment. Her practice merges digital and physical matter through the misuse of technological tools and traditional methods of making. Her background in architecture and speculative fiction allows her to work simultaneously at multiple scales- from the bit to the body and the landscape. Her varied practice includes image-based works, sculptures, immersive environments, writing, creative direction, films, and audiovisual performances.

Breanna’s work has been exhibited internationally, including at Gazelli Art House, Vellum LA, Galerie Joseph (Paris), Rand Gallery (Dubai), Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the Ewing Gallery of Art + Architecture. She has consulted in creative technology with notable artists and institutions such as Dr. Parag Mital, Pierre Huyghe, Jennifer Chen, and the Getty Museum / Getty PST. Most recently, she collaborated with ByBorre Netherlands and ComunityMade LA on the launch of her experimental brand, Happy Medium.
