You are invited to our first Fall DMA Lecture Series Featuring Dalena Tran & Hirad Sab: Building Software in Service of Creative Practice, On AI, Media, Software and the Evolving Creative Process and Craft
We’re excited to welcome DMA alumni Dalena Tran and Hirad Sab back to campus. Together, they founded Fuser, a creative software platform that brings AI models and tools for image, video, sound, and 3D into a shared visual environment. Fuser grew out of their own artistic practice and has evolved into a new way for artists and designers to experiment, collaborate, and create.
Speakers Statement:
Creative software has always shaped how we work, what we make, and what we imagine is possible. As artists, designers, and technologists, we've spent years working with these tools and now, as founders of Fuser, we're building them for others. We'll explore how AI is changing creative processes across disciplines, what craft means when execution becomes easier, and why developing a point of view remains central to making. How can we build software that supports experimentation, discovery, and creative agency while enabling new forms of expression, collaboration, and shared knowledge?
Bios:
Dalena Tran is an artist, filmmaker, educator, and co-founder of Fuser, a creative software platform for generative AI and software publishing. She has taught studio arts at UCLA, CalArts, and Oregon State University. Her practice explores collective worldbuilding through the media we use to communicate and circulate ideas, and the systems and tools that shape how we express ourselves and create meaning. Her work has been exhibited and screened internationally, including at the New York Film Festival, Berlin Biennale, and Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art.
