Gideon Mendel: Photographer

Gideon Mendel, born in South Africa, is a photographer best known for his work on AIDS in Africa. He is the author of A Broken Landscape: HIV & AIDS in Africa (2001).

The Art + Activism series is a joint program of the UCLA Art|Science
Center and the Art|Global Health Center at UCLA. Principal funding has
been provided by the ArtsForum program of UCLA School of the Arts and
Architecture, with additional support from the two Centers; the
Departments of World Arts and Cultures, Design|Media Arts and Theater;
the Office of Instructional Development; and the Regent Lecturer
