Sara Diamond is an award winning television and new media producer/director, video artist, visual and media arts curator, critic, researcher, teacher and artistic director. Diamond is currently the Artistic Director, Media and Visual Arts and Director of Research at the international Banff Centre. She is responsible for shaping Banff Centre programs in new media, visual, media arts and research.
Diamond programs new media events for the prestigious Banff Television Festival and develops the extensive Banff New Media Institute at The Banff Centre. She participates in the Canadian cultural industries SAGIT, Cultural Diversity Advisory committee and ICT Implementation committee for Alberta, as well as on numerous juries such as the Webbies, Viper, and Research Development Initiatives (SSHRC).
Diamond is creating a visualization and conference authoring software and related live events, including dance, spoken word and intensive collaborations, entitled CodeZebra. Her art works in video, photography and installation, such as Patternity, are in major collections around the world. In 1992, she was honored by an extensive retrospective exhibition of her work at The National Gallery of Canada and has represented Canada in biennales such as Sydney and the Budapest Autumn Festival and other world exhibitions.
