Numerous items from Professor Erkki Huhtamo's Media Archaeology Collection will be on view in the exhibition “Grand Views: The Immersive World of Panoramas” at Forest Lawn Museum, Glendale, L.A. The panorama is an immersive, large-scale artistic format and public entertainment popularized in the late 18th and the 19th centuries.
Huhtamo, a pioneering media archaeologist, is internationally recognized as a leading expert on the history of the panorama. He co-edited the exhibition catalogue, designed by the DMA emeritus professor Willem Henri Lucas.
Forest Lawn Museum is located at 1712 S Glendale Ave, Glendale, CA 91205. Admission and parking are free. “Grand Views: The Immersive World of Panoramas” is on view from May 13-September 10, 2023.
