Erin Cooney

Class of 2020

Erin Cooney is an American visual artist based in Los Angeles. She uses video, installation, and software to create work dealing with issues of subjectivity, point of view, the nature of consciousness, and time. Drawing on a wide variety of sources, including philosophy, literature, information theory, neuroscience, and post-humanism, her works use time-based algorithmic and aggregational systems to transform series of fixed instances into representations of totalities. Erin Cooney’s work has been profiled on NPR’s 'All Things Considered,' CNN, and in 2013 she gave a TEDx Talk on her crowd-sourced video installation, 'The Simultania Project.'
