DESMA 258: Database Aesthetics week 5

ambient interface: Benjamin Bratton

May 3, 2004, 12:00 pm   »

To summerize, Benjamin Bratton lectures to the class on a chapter he wrote about; what he calls "aesthetics and logistics". He uses examples of architecture and other works, to back up his argument, "that the reorganization of complex social and cultural institutions into forms of software and database, have produced a wide range of cultural and aesthetic ramifications." He asks the class to question how it is that the database as urban event effects the cultural system, leading the class into a discussion of interface.
