UCLA's Department of Design | Media Arts is proud to present work from DESMA 172 Special Topics in Video and Animation: Radical Digital Bodies. Join us for our final showcase of student work produced in this class!
In self-directed final projects, the students of Radical Digital Bodies explore the human body in relationship to digital culture. Throughout a series of lectures and workshops, we examined topics relevant to the digital body such as personal and social identities, surveillance, gender and race. Students proposed and produced works using a variety of techniques to represent and challenge the human body in digital space: character rigging, motion capture, augmented reality and 3D scanning. Their final projects take a variety of forms, from projection mapping on 3D prints to multi-channel video and interactive installation.
Featuring works by Kiana Abad, Hajar Azzam, Jade Box, Erin Cooney, Dylan Han, Andrew Kinder, Jieun Lee, Katie McNeish, Andrew Ortiz, Tina Wen, Chloe Zhang.
The exhibition is free and open to the public and will be located in the Experimental Digital Arts (EDA) at the UCLA Broad Art Center.
