Daniel Schwarz’ (*Germany, 1987) works explore and transform different modes of representation with a strong focus on digital technologies, widely-used online services and their impact on society. This manifests itself in a multifaceted output of installations, live performances, short films, mobile applications and websites.
Currently he is a MFA candidate in the Design Media Arts program at UCLA. In 2011-12 he held an artist residency at Fabrica in Italy. He studied computer science and media (BSc) at the HdM Stuttgart, Germany, and the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Brazil.
He performed and exhibited worldwide including Sónar Festival Barcelona, the 70th Venice Film Festival, Moscow's Museum Night, Node - Forum for Digital Arts Frankfurt, Mapping Festival Geneva, WRO Biennale Wroclaw, FILE – Electronic Language International Festival Sao Paolo, roBOt Festival, Fach & Asendorf Gallery and km temporaer among many others.
His short films have won at Shift's DOTMOV Festival, the 13th Circuito Off Audience Award, the Veneto Award at Lago Film Fest and the ARTE Creative Student Award.
